With the win, the Warriors became the first team in the program’s recorded history to win its first 10 games to start the regular season, eclipsing the 2025 squad’s 9-0 start to the year. That team would set a new program record with 39 victories and a top-three finish at the state championships.
On Saturday, the Warriors had to claw back and score a comeback victory after they fell behind 3-1 through five innings.
In the sixth, Kate Pedroza started the comeback with a leadoff single and then advanced to second on a wild pitch. A Cypress error in left field allowed Emma Padilla to reach safely, putting the game-tying run on base with no outs.
Sophia Munguia punched in the first run of the inning with a single to left, plating Pedroza with pinch-runner Isabella Cardona advancing to second with the tying-run.
After a sacrifice bunt moved the runners over to second and third, Emily Gamboa smacked a double to left field to clear the bases and give ECC a 4-3 lead.
The team would add an insurance run in the seventh and pitcher Raquel Alonso escaped a two-one, two-out jame in the seventh to log the complete-game victory.
Alonso went the distance and allowed three runs on 10 hits while striking out four to pick up her fourth win of the season in the circle.
The Warriors will return to conference action on Tuesday afternoon as they hit the road to face Mount San Antonio for a 2 p.m. first pitch, weather permitting.
