Schurr Spartans won big over Mark Keppel 10-0 on Tuesday.
A ground out by Samantha Maldonado put Schurr on the board in the bottom of the first.
Schurr added to their early lead in the bottom of the second inning after Mark Keppel committed an error, and the Spartans scored on a wild pitch, each scoring one run.
Schurr added to their early lead in the bottom of the third inning when Kayla Rodriguez doubled, scoring two runs, and Sarah Romero singled, scoring one run.
Sophia De Santiago earned the win for the Spartans. The pitcher gave up three hits and zero runs over five innings, striking out three and walking none. Robyn Guitron took the loss for Mark Keppel. The pitcher went four innings, giving up eight runs (five earned) on 10 hits, striking out two and walking one.
Schurr Spartans amassed 12 hits in the game. Rodriguez drove the middle of the lineup, leading the Spartans with three runs batted in. The shortstop went 2-for-3 on the day. Mia Gonzales went 3-for-3 at the plate to lead the Spartans in hits. Melina Sanchez and De Santiago each collected multiple hits for Schurr
The Spartans didn’t commit a single error on the field. Gonzales had the most chances in the field with seven.
Sarah Lucero, Avigail Navarro, and Guitron each collected one hit for Mark Keppel.
