Legacy came tearing into Thursday’s contest with 12 straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 10.4 runs), and they left with even more momentum. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Roosevelt Rough Riders a 13-0 shutout. The Tigers’ pitching crew has been rock solid lately; the team hasn’t given up a run in their last three matchups.
Savannah Medina made a big impact no matter where she played. She kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out 13 over five innings pitched. She has been consistent: she hasn’t given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter’s box, getting on base in two of her three plate appearances with one stolen base and one run.
In other batting news, Leslie Sanchez and Brianna Gonzalez did most of the damage at the plate: Sanchez fired off two home runs, three runs, and three RBI while going 2-for-4, while Gonzalez went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. Those two home runs gave Sanchez a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Priscilla Medina, who went 2-for-4 with two doubles, one run, and one RBI.
Legacy lost a few balls and finished the game with three home runs. That’s the most home runs they’ve managed all season.
Legacy’s record now sits at 19-8. As for Roosevelt, their loss ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 11-12.
