Garfield had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 9.5 runs) and they went ahead and made it three on Thursday. They walked away with a 6-2 win over the Roosevelt Rough Riders. That’s the second time they’ve managed to beat them this season, as they also won 10-0 on Monday.
The team relied heavily on Jema Aguiar, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two stolen bases, three RBI, and one run. Those three hits gave her a new career-high. Rosalie Aguilera also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.
Garfield’s record now sits at 3-4. As for Roosevelt, their defeat ended a four-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 3-5.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Garfield will head out to take on San Pedro at 3:15 p.m. on Monday. As for Roosevelt, they will venture away from home to square off against Harbor Teacher at 3:30 p.m. on Friday.
