South El Monte softball team edges rival El Monte 4-3

The South El Monte varsity softball team won Wednesday’s home conference game against El Monte by a score of 4-3.

Player of the Game

Congratulations to #24 Aniah Castruita for being selected the South El Monte Softball Player of the Game.

Aniah came up big in two innings. Trailing by two she led off the bottom of the first inning with a double, reached third on a passed ball and scored on Rachael Leons grounder to cut the lead in half. With the score tied at 3 she led off the bottom of the 7th with a single and moved to 2nd on Rachaels Sac Bunt. The Lions chose to walk Alyssa Hernandez and Aaliyah Cordova loaded the bases on a Hit By Pitch. On a 3-2 count with two outs Kaelyn Rodriguez drew a walk to plate Aniah with the winning run.
