The Roosevelt High School Rough Riders will host cross-town rival Garfield High School Bulldogs for the 87th annual meeting of the gridiron clash at the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum.

This year’s game will feature a halftime performance by global music supergroup, Black Eyed Peas. Students, administrators, Coliseum officials and Black Eyed Peas bandmates will come together to preview the big game, which is the homecoming event for both Eastside schools.

The East LA Classic is a celebration of community, tradition and is a source of pride for many families from Boyle Heights and East Los Angeles. It provides a big venue to showcase student’s athletic ability and scholarship. Many months of collaboration between the students and staff from both schools go into making this a can’t miss showcase of East LA civic pride.

President of the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum Commission George Pla joined forces with LAUSD to bring the yearly anticipated game to the historic venue as one in a series of exceptional events that will take place this year at the Coliseum to honor its 100th anniversary.
