Eliana Lopez was dominant in the circle, as the starter rang up 12 strikeouts in Garfield Bulldogs’s 10-0 victory over Roosevelt on Monday. Lopez allowed four hits and zero runs over six innings while walking three.
Clara Villalpando collected three hits in four at bats in the win. Villalpando singled in the fifth inning, singled in the third inning, and singled in the fourth inning.
A walk by Zoey Gomez put Garfield on the board in the bottom of the second.
The Bulldogs extended their early lead with two runs in the bottom of the third thanks to RBI walks by Lopez and Jade Ortega.
#11 took the loss for Roosevelt. The hurler went five and two-thirds innings, surrendering 10 runs (seven earned) on 11 hits, striking out nine and walking five.
The Bulldogs accumulated 11 hits in the game. Valerie Valencia, Rosalie Aguilera, and Villalpando each collected three hits for Garfield.
Lopez led Garfield with two walks. Overall, the team had a strong eye at the plate, accumulating five walks for the game.
#15, #3, #7, and #12 each collected one hit for Roosevelt. #7 stole two bases.
