LOS ANGELES — Cal State LA’s women’s basketball team endured a tough fourth-quarter stretch Saturday that deprived them of a California Collegiate Athletic Association home victory.

The Golden Eagles surrendered 15 straight points over a five-minute stretch and fell to Sonoma State, 73-66, in University Gym. Cal State LA (4-9, 2-5 CCAA) held a four-point lead, 53-49, with eight minutes to go before Sonoma State (8-4, 4-3 CCAA) went on its game-wining run.

DiRegolo scored the first four points of the third quarter to give the Golden Eagles a 32-30 lead and a three-point play by Nicole Flennaugh gave the Golden Eagles a 50-45 lead entering the fourth. A 3-pointer by Bordonaro put the Golden Eagles ahead, 53-49, with 8:34 to go, but Sonoma State scored the next 15 points and hit its free throws down the stretch to maintain its edge.
