Tigers fall short

In the Division 1 final, Legacy Tigers of South Gate faced off against East Valley League champion Chavez Eagles – who combined to outscore their conference foes 160 runs to just 6 allowed. The Tigers couldn’t get anything going through the first three innings, bouncing into two double plays in the second and third inning and Eagle sophomore ace Kailey Duran faced the minimum in that time. Junior infielder Alyssa Castillo started off the bottom of the 4th with a single to the left side and later scored on a wild pitch to cut the Eagles lead to 6-1. Unfortunately in the end, the Tigers could only manage seven hits on the afternoon with three of them coming from sophomore pitcher Samantha Vizcarra and fell 6-2 to a team in Cesar Chavez, who improved to 4-0 in CIF Championships against the Eastern League (Garfield, South East, Roosevelt and now Legacy).
