Nadia Carrillo struck out 13 batters as the pitcher led Garfield Varsity Bulldogs 2025 past Roosevelt High School 5-0 on Friday. Carrillo gave up two hits and zero runs over seven innings while walking two.

A solo home run to left field by Madilyn Muñoz following a 7-pitch at-bat put Garfield Varsity Bulldogs 2025 on the board in the bottom of the first.

Nataly Carranza started in the circle for Roosevelt High School. The starting pitcher allowed four hits and five runs (two earned) over six innings, striking out five and walking three.

Clara Villalpando drove the middle of the lineup, leading Garfield Varsity Bulldogs 2025 with two runs batted in. The infielder went 1-for-3 on the day. Muñoz, Sofia Frias, Jema Aguiar, and Villalpando each collected one hit for Garfield. Aguiar stole two bases. Garfield stole four bases in the game. The Bulldogs were sure-handed in the field and didn’t commit a single error. Muñoz had the most chances in the field with 14.

Bri Nieto #34 and Brianna Luna#14 each collected one hit for Roosevelt High School.

The Garfield Bulldogs triumphed over the visiting Roosevelt Rough Riders softball squad by a count of 5-0 in Friday’s league challenge.

Next, the Bulldogs meet the Chavez Eagles (San Fernando, CA) in a non-league challenge, on Wednesday, April 2. Garfield will attempt to upgrade on its 6-4 season record. The Eagles enter the challenge with a 4-7 record after their 11-4 non-league loss to West (Torrance, CA).

The Rough Riders (2-11) will now prepare for their challenge against South Gate (South Gate, CA). The Rams enter the Eastern challenge with a 4-10 record.
