Event name: Eastside Sol
Date: August 1, 2015; 2-6 pm
Location: Mariachi Plaza, Boyle Heights
Event Description: This free and open event will inform and engage the east-side residents on solar power, environmental sustainability, and clean energy in their community. It will feature live mural and screen-printing demonstrations by local artists and youth; 100% solar-powered music stage; free fruit and aguas frescas; food trucks; local vendors; free fruit tree giveaway; free face painting; and information booths from local environmental justice and clean energy organizations.
Inform and engage eastside residents on solar power, energy efficiency, and clean energy in their community
Engage residents on issues of climate change, air pollution, and resiliency
Inform residents of LADWP programs and incentives available to them, including employment opportunities
Activate dialogue on solar power in public spaces (including vacant city-owned lots) and engage in community participatory planning
