WHITTIER – The La Serna football team came away with its second consecutive win and first in the Del Rio League as it defeated El Rancho, 28-0, Friday night at California High.
La Serna senior quarterback Dylan Long led the way with three touchdown passes to three different receivers. Long was 17 for 27 passing for 243 yards.
“As a team, these nights are special to us,” said Long, referring to the five-game schedule in this unusual spring season.
The Dons came out with a slow-pace offense in the first quarter, holding the high-powered La Serna offense down to a solo touchdown.
“They say the definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over, but expecting a different result,” said El Rancho coach Adrian Medrano, of the repetitive offense.
The Lancers (2-0), with only one drive in the quarter, scored on a 52-yard run by senior running back Blake Clay (six carries for 73 yards).
